The global flow of people - an interactive infographic

My turn to post something here. I hope it's not off-topic, as it involves the migrations flow worldwide - not just Europe.

Three researchers (Nikola Sander, Guy J. Abel and Ramon Bauer) at the Wittgenstein Center for Demography and Global Human Capital have developed a really fancy infographic that

[..] estimates of migration flows between and within regions for five-year periods, 1990 to 2010

The infographic is available at , together with all the info about how data has been collected and processed.

And no, Europe does not seem to be the first destination for migrants..

Of course we are not the first destination, we have too many barriers from language to self-interests and many more in-between. I wonder if anyone is prepared to make a list of those barriers or preventions that we in Fortress Europe have, it would be interesting to see what they might read like?
