Top 15 Crowdfunding Platforms in Europe

Crowdfunding in Europe has attained a significant level of growth, adoption and maturity in recent years. The European Commission’s Startup Europe that “aims to strengthen the business environment for web and ICT entrepreneurs so that their ideas and business can start and grow in the EU”, has the EU rooting for better access to capital and a lowered barrier for success — all possible through crowdfunding. Equity crowdfunding has enabled small time investors to diversify their portfolios and gain ownership in high growth startups, leveling the playing field. Continued growth of European crowdfunding platforms would require 1) a legal crowdfunding framework across Europe and 2) a rating system to help evaluate the numerous platforms

Here is Crowdsourcing Week’s top 15 crowdfunding platforms to watch for in Europe (includes one Israeli platform that caters to European investors)

Hi Conall, great list! do nxt just started in January this year (2016) but offers a different crowdfunding model for the creatives and arts: monthly recurring crowdfunding. We belief that artists and creators also need a steady monthly income and therefore we build a platform where you can provide monthly subscriptions to your work.

Come have a look: https://donxt.com and start your campaign!

Best,

Joris (founder of do nxt)

Thanks  Conall, a great overview! I see goteo.org is in the list, probably the most known platform in Spain. If someone is interested in other crowdfunding platforms in Spain, here is a collection: http://www.universocrowdfunding.com/category/plataformas/
It would be interesting to know more about platforms in other countries, if anyone has some news to share?

Thanks Conall for sharing! Hi Hugo!

From Portugal, here some crowdfunding platforms to discover. Note most of the crowdfunded projects are focused on cultural, social and sports fields.

Thank you Hugo, we just started a cultural and ecological centre near Lliria (comunidad Valencia, it's 6 months old now.) and will probably make use of a crowdfunding platform in the near future. www.ojala-lliria.com

Hola Hugo, I'm new in the Labs and still have to investigate how it all works, but personally I'm interested in the art and science lab. As an artist my work is often inspired by science and I think the two fields can have interesting discussions and results.
Another project I'm running together with others is an ecological and cultural centre, this is much broader and perhaps the two focus points could become a lab as well. The centre is a place for workshops, classes, small concerts, performances, exhibitions and a meeting place for people who are interested in an environmentally friendly approach and culture.

As for Swedish platforms, there is also CrowdCulture, where cultural projects are funded through a combination of crowdfunding and public grants. The more supporters for a project, the more public funding is given to it.
